Sriwijaya Air recently will prepare investment of Rp. 200 milliard in order to their air plane armada rejuvenation. Currently, 17 unit of air plane was operated by Sriwijaya Air, there are consist of Boeing 737 series 200 and 300 and represent year product output on 1980. The planning of investment Rp. 200 milliard by Sriwijaya air will using for rent four unit of air plane Airbus 20 series 300 and 400 or Boeing 737 series 400 and 700 year product output on 1990 through leasing system which there are not easy to conducted, because it is may be available for 4-5 year later. For example, in this time Sriwijaya Air have done ordering four unit Airbus 320 which air plane capacities till 180 seat with theirs business partner in United State of America (USA) and it will be available in the year 2012. The “New” armada of air plane will be rent by Sriwijaya Air are using to serve flight path Surabaya-Balikpapan, Makassar-Palu, Bandung-Surabaya-Denpasar-Kupang, and also Surabaya-Makassar-M

Sriwijaya Air plans to open new route Gorontalo - Manado and Manado - Davao (Philippine). The new routes will be flown in 30 November 2006. Daniel S.Kurniawan, Vice Commercial Director Sriwijaya Air said beside Manado, Sriwijaya is planning to fly regional route, Medan - Penang, Surabaya - Singapore and Bandung - Palembang - Batam - Singapore. With introducing the Manado flight, Sriwijaya currently flies to 28 domestic cities and 3 regional cities. Prior to the new destination, Sriwijaya flies to Lampung, Pangkal Pinang, Tanjung Pandan, Palembang, Bengkulu, Jambi, Padang, Pekanbaru,Medan, Banda Aceh, Batam, Semarang, Solo, Malang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Kupang, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Ujung Pandang and Gorontalo. 

Sriwijaya Air inaugurated its first city check-in counter in Gambir Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta . The inauguration marked also as the ticketing counter in the city. Irwansyah, District Manager Sriwijaya Air Jakarta said, the facility help shorten the process of boarding. "Passengers will be able to choose their own seats and print-out their own boarding pass."
